COLBERT, THE BUSINESS OF FREEDOM AND FREE SPEECH

Personally, I never thought that Steven Colbert was funny at all. All of his humor if you want to call it that was unfunny, forced and poisonous. The Late Show was trasmutated from a comedy show under the leadership of David Letterman, a quirky and funny guy, into a media / political weapon of way Left of center mass destruction. Colbert and his show will not be missed by me.
Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel and John Oliver are similarly unfunny, forced and poisonous politically partisan. The only Left of center late night comedian who is actually funny IMO even though he is a bit too Left of center sometimes is John Stewart.
I primarily grew up in the 60's, 70's and 80's and I watched religiously Johnny Carson, David Letterman and sometimes Conan Obrein later on. I even remember watching Steve Allen and Jack Par! And all of the above were consummate professional comedians, they and their shows were culturally reflective, relevant and funny. They even did political humor and managed to make the experience relevant to your life and funny. And few were outraged and polarized like today.
Then corporate media recognized that the medium that they controlled and lorded over was able to be effectively politically weaponized by those fresh "NEW" more Liberal leaders in their board rooms and executive suites. And this what can only be described as an Orwellian trend in "Free Speech" and comedy was off to the races. You saw it, you can see it tonight, you should understand that what I propose is so. Those at the control levers of American media and politics in all of its forms were going to tell America and the world what was funny, what was moral and what they were going to think say and do. They all were and are trained in the psychological manipulation of power in media and politics.
Media and politics desperately pandering to really in many instances half educated, and naive, extreme, angry and politically confused people is dark, depressing and seeking true authoritarian control over all those who absorb it.
But at some point, if money is real and has some actual value even those who seek to control what the people of America and the world say, think and do have to recognize the reality of the trends and the bottom line.
"It's difficult not to see how an ownership change impacted 'The Late Show' franchise, but the move also reveals stubborn truths about the cost of the programming vs. cheaper and infinite YouTube rivals."
I was sent a meme: "I dunno guys, this looks like an open attempt at authoritarian control of media". Referring to The Colbert / Late Show being canceled, and in the same week PBS and NPR being denied public tax subsidies.
Colbert, PBS and NPR all tend to indoctrinate and promote the more Left and let's say Socialist leaning perspective. I have watched have listened to and have been educated by both PBS and NPR since I was a child. And I understood then as I do now, they are more Left leaning and not unpartisan and neutral in their presentation and subject matter. They are both advocates for a particular Subjective perspective. Colbert is just a flat out unapologetic partisan political warrior of the radical Left. And that is hard to argue with.
Now these entities mentioned above do not exist in a vacuum and must at some point as we all reasonably understand justify their existence and continued funding. Bottom-line real-world issues in other words.
"Given that The Late Show—with its handsomely paid host and a staff of roughly 200 employees—reportedly costs CBS $100 million per year to produce, that $40 million figure becomes easier to understand." CBS Reportedly Lost $40 Million on Colbert's Late Show This Year - LateNighter
Tell me, what would you do if you ran these BUSINESSES? How many years can you afford to lose $40 million dollars on a "Comedy" show? And I know what some of the more Socialist and "progressive" people might focus on: Roughly 200 employees will lose their jobs! Like I said, things in the real world do not exist in an ideological / idealistic vacuum. If that is the first thing you focused on, then you might take a step back and rethink things and your perspective.
Sometimes things get to a certain point in life, business and politics and the need for change must be recognized and made. And to think that you can choose and force your dogmatic extreme partisan perspective and call it a "Conspiracy" and the imminent imposition of authoritarian rule when adjustments must be made is most likely itself a self-justifying self-soothing conspiracy theory. To ignore these real-world indicators of change, without doubt mean your certain financial destruction and impoverishment and irrelevance will soon be visited upon you.
Even big multi-billion-dollar multinational authoritarian (without proper Congressional regulation) corporations must recognize the winds of change and must evolve and take into consideration the feedback they are receiving from their customers and in many ways victims. I.E. The PEOPLE!
The ONLY solution to the political and corporate chaos and confusion? Is for the American people in particular to remain as OBJECTIVE, rational and aware of the psychological manipulations of those involved in the corporate and political world who are desperate for their allegiance, money and the power that their votes represent. And they will literally DO ANYTHING in order to acquire and or retain that allegiance, money and power.
Free speech is not free.
