HOW NOT TO INTERPRET YOUR RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH

I read this story out of California about a woman who felt the need to express herself on social media on the subject of Charlie Kirk and him being the victim of essentially a politically driven assassination.

I am always mystified as to why someone during an unarguably no matter your political perspective a horrific, violent and tragic event. Most people in my opinion unless they are very well trained or mindful and rational should not really being sharing their feelings on such things with the masses through social media.

Its best IMO to either keep it to yourself or just express yourself in person among your two or three closest friends, keep your audience minimal. And this is where the social media personal opinion broadcast machine monster on steroids can cost you dearly, and very unnecessarily.

A woman shares her opinion on the Charlie Kirk event and not only her, but her boyfriend who is a contractor has to pay a very high price.

What did she say? "She had responded to his death in a TikTok insisting her ‘sympathies don’t lie’ with the conservative activist (Charlie Kirk)."

"Instead, she declared that all she could offer Kirk were ‘thoughts and prayers,’ just as she claimed he can only offer after the nation’s frequent school shootings."

Now on its face I do not personally find what she said so offensive, Charlie Kirk understood that his positions and thinking were offensive and controversial to some. But she apparently did it live and in color on a TikTok video she made. And such opinions casually offered live and in color during such a contentious and emotional time pumped out on social media is really unnecessary and can be seen by those who are outraged as provocative and incendiary.

Many other people opposed to Mr. Kirks perspective have made similar postings and videos and many of them immediately lost their jobs, and they are mystified. They draw no distinction between their free speech and PERSONAL OPINION on a controversial issue and their potential responsibilities regarding the companies that they work or are associated with and any injury potential to their BRANDS and BUSINESS. That is a no, no.

Today, Ms. Farina and Jimmy Kimmel learned that lesson, and previously Bill Mahre, Rosann (both previously fired for words spoken that their employers did not favor, found offensive and a threat to their brand and business) and many others on social media who worked for others have also learned this hard lesson.

Your free speech and your personal opinions are YOURS! Don't make them MINE!

And so, you, and your free speech structured and guaranteed by the United States Constitution, pumped out into the interweb / internet universe and amplified by a social media platform has caused unnecessary pain, hardship and concern for you and those who surround you.

Free speech is not free. Free speech and its guarantee enshrined and ensured by the Constitution comes with certain responsibilities and associated dangers. Again, most people IMO are ill equipped to be sharing what is bouncing around between their ears about most issues in the news and in politics today on social media.

Think before you push that button and then think again. Because you just may be feeding a social media monster that lives within many emotional vindictive human hearts who will Objectify all who they see as the existential enemy. And if you become Objectified then it is so much easier for you and your associated "Opinion" and political perspective and associates to be destroyed or severely injured. You can become collateral damage of the current political warfare.

And does anyone really need that in their Lower-case everyday American lives? Charlie Kirk had consciously fashioned an Upper-case high-profile life for himself by choosing to immerse himself in the political conversation highlighted by his religious perspective in America. And he expected push back. Charlie embraced push back but should not have had to lose his life for HIS opinion.

You also have a choice, only most people using this powerful new technology of communication amplification do not always understand they are making a choice, they are just sharing their opinion with like-minded "friends".

Consequences: Commensurate with choices made.

I find it amusing that the Left, who have apparently just discovered Free Speech, are shocked--shocked! to find out that the rules they made up for the rest of us just might also be applied to them. The First Amendment constrains the government, not the people. We are free to be offended by the speech of others, to judge their character by what they say, and to shun them. Their "cancel culture" is a very old way of society to show its disapproval, going back to the ancient Greeks and probably even older than that.

This woman, like so many others on social media, is both a narcissist and a coward. She felt compelled to share her "feelings" with everyone…

You do not understand, it is THEIR "Democray" that they are defending and worried about losing. The boyfriend most probably agrees with her rant. And if not and it were me, I would not be happy.
