"I am a pacifist, I hate guns". This is how a conversation I had the other day with a young Russian woman began. I do not remember exactly how we got on the subject but here we were.
And my response was: You do not hate guns, guns are inanimate objects, what you hate are the people who use guns to do evil things to other people.
You hate those people.
You might be scared of guns and what they can be used to do, but guns are inanimate objects you cannot hate them. That is like saying "I hate rocks because one fell on my toe and broke it.
"No, no, I hate guns! My entire family are pacifists, and we all hate what guns have done" Was her reply. (She hates guns!? She is Russian, Stalin, Lennon, Communism etc. Mao: Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun)
Here we go I am thinking, right down the unreal nonsensical Liberal bend over rabbit hole.
This woman speaks perfect English with a heavy Russian accent, she is educated, appreciates and can call out Tchaikovsky on the radio, and I believe she works for the U.N. in some capacity. Hmmmm.
Do you hate knives also, I ask? As I put a knife on the counter and stare at it waiting for it to launch itself into action and "Do evil". How many people have been injured or killed by knives? Why do you not hate knives also?
I am watching her as she silently engages the wheels in her head with the real-world logic, I am presenting her with.
"Only the right people should have guns".
Exactly who are the "Right" people? Silence, a vacant stare, and more wheels turning.
This was the beginning of this conversation, because I became busy, I had to end it. But I am sure it will continue and I will keep you informed as to how it goes.
