There is one thing that an individual should NEVER do, and it comes in two flavors.
One of those things is representing that you have been in the military, and you have not ever been in the military, and you are seeking some recognition or benefit. OR the second of those things is being in the military and claiming to have been in combat and you have never been documented to have ever been in combat.
The men and women who have served in the American military, nor does Congress, take kindly to people who do and claim such things. It is dishonorable and despicable.
The Stolen Valor Act: "The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 (Pub. L.Tooltip Public Law (United States) 113–12 (text) (PDF); H.R. 258) is a United States federal law that was passed by the 113th United States Congress. The law amends the federal criminal code to make it a crime for a person to fraudulently claim having received a valor award specified in the Act, with the intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit by convincing another that he or she received the award."
A SOLDIER'S FAMILY PRAYER
We love and honor those who pledge their lives without question to the United States Constitution in order that we all live in peace. May God watch over them, and may the individuals that we the American people empower to direct them have the wisdom and forbearance to never abuse that which would lead them into harm's way. JGL
I suggest everyone keep a close eye on the upcoming Democrat National Convention.
Are you paying attention yet America? JGL 8/8/24
