UNDERSTANDING CHINA

Just the other day I was in the process of installing new tires and wheels on my 2005 Chrysler, Town & Country. It is kind of old now and during the craziness of Covid (China) I was forced to essentially rebuild a good deal of the front and rear ends myself. Couldn't find anyone to work on it, couldn't go and buy a new one. It was a crazy time.
Many days I started at 6AM and slowly I made progress before I went to work later in the day. New rear end, new disks, brakes and calipers all around, new front struts and rear shocks, new alternator, new battery etc. etc., it was a project. It was a project I enjoyed, and I now hate to part with it since most of it is new and it's running so well.
Interestingly all the new parts that I needed came walking in my front door compliments of the AMAZON driver, the UPS driver and China where most of the new parts were made. All at the touch of a few computer keys on the internet.
The Town & Country is more than a bit rusty now, not very pretty but it is long ago paid for. With only 45,000 miles on the vehicle, it has served me well and owes me nothing.
And as I was in the process of installing my new tires and wheels a guy (Caucasian American) that I only casually know from the neighborhood who I understand is married to a Chinese woman starts a conversation with me about the new tires and how he also has to do the same.
And in the small talk somehow, we get on the subject of how perverted the media and politics is here in America. And I agreed whole heartedly with him, totally corrupt. And he says: "I think we are going to move back to China I lived there for 6 years and I loved it. It is much better than living here in America. China is the new Democracy of the future.". (Huh!?)
And I say: "Really!?"

His statement did not quite make sense to me; I study China, its culture, its history, its politics and the CCP to some extent and have a picture in my head about what CCP China is and what CCP China is not. But he was very confident in his statement even when I pointed out:
"But China is a Communist country!"
And today after a few days thinking about what he said with such confidence I happened across this quick video on the country of China and its current CCP Communist structure. I thought it was instructive, keeping in mind that there are somethings that I admire very much about China and its people. China as a people and a culture has been around for something like 4,000 or more years, and that is impressive.

When I see him next, I will again be questioning him further on his perspective comparing America and Communist China. Something to think about, America is different and the insane craziness and the political warfare struggle that is constantly raging and the corruption revealed serves an essential purpose in illuminating and securing it. As counter intuitive as that may sound. That is what I understand about America.
America, warts and all is about process by design. Freedom as it is in America, desperately needs process. There is no significant process for the people in China, as I understand it, you do as you are instructed for the most part because it is a dictatorship. There is no need for much process in CCP China.
Like I said, something to think about.
To my point about process in China: Death comes quick to the corrupt. And still, there is corruption: https://youtube.com/shorts/wvUsR9pL69I?si=0W-r5ybAXMU3pD_O 30 sec.
