You want a more reasonable housing market costs and more housing? Then do the exact opposite as what every "progressive", Socialist, Democrat and Communist propose and does.

Remember, all government is force. How much force do you want in your life? Government does two things, Incentivizes and or disincentivizes. The more you create law and regulation (Disincentive) to supposedly control prices and costs the higher those prices and costs will go. And politicians generally across the board because they are primarily focused on appearing to be concerned and effective regarding their constituents and retaining their power and control do not know where to draw the line. They reject the entire concept of drawing a line. If government could they would confiscate all of your wealth and your freedom as it is through policies, laws and regulations. And that works for THEM.

Regulation and reasonable laws that attempt to protect renters has its place to some degree. But like all such actions by politicians passing laws that "protect" sectors of people who they see as their constituents that keep them in political power and control there by being seen as being "compassionate" and their champion always turns into more and more force by government and destroys natural market forces that keep costs down and more reasonable.

Government over regulation and largess (With your tax dollars) just creates new markets for cash flow models that feed politicians reelections funds. Every nonprofit, every NGO that proposes that THEY are working in the interests of the poor and disadvantaged or minority populations are in most if not all cases just an opportunity to have the government mandate through law the funding of their campaigns and their cronies bank accounts with high paying jobs.

If ANY politician was serious about lowering the cost of ANYTHING especially housing, the first thing they would seek to lower or eliminate are ever increasing real estate taxes and fees that they themselves have instituted. Because they sit at the foundation of all costs and overhead specifically in the housing and real estate industry. But they will not do that, that is a nonstarter especially in the Democrat party-controlled city or state. THAT is against THEIR own $elf-interests and their retaining political power and control.

And how is this established as being Objectively true? Just look at the two most recent extreme examples: The former Socialist country of Argentina which has gone fully Capitalist and the now more and more Democrat Socialist controlled state of New York, specifically New York City and every other Democrat party-controlled state and city in the United States which has fully embraced what Argentina has most recently tested and rejected.

ALL of the states and cities run by the Democrat party leadership in America are consistently immersed in high crime, illegal immigrants, high drug use, murder, bad schools, high housing costs and a general dark and depressing existence.

Just do the opposite.
